Neighborhood kids along on the highway between Sagada and Baguio. Our bus broke down and we had lots of time to interact with them. They really loved hamming it up for the cameras

Hesperia High Alumni Marcel Reece signs a t-shirt for one of several kids that participated in the inaugural Marcel Reece Youth Football Skills Camp held at Hesperia High School on Saturday. Reece said he wanted to run his camp in the High Desert because of the absence of this kind of event in the area. He hopes to make it an annual event.

I worked for a year as the Saturday photographer for a local newspaper. I got to experience and photograph a wide variety of things from breaking news, such as fires, accidents and more than one “body found in the desert”, to community events and local sports. It was a lot of fun, mostly. Below are links to the stories on the newspaper’s website that feature my photos.

College Men’s Basketball

Mud Run

War Games

Medieval War Games

San Diego Fires, October 2007

KAT MINER, SPECIAL TO THE DAILY PRESS Ten year old Rylee Lewis of Hesperia does her best to win a jelly donut eating contest at Operation: Military Kids on Saturday. The purpose of the event was to honor military kids and their families. It included face painting, games, a bounce house and barbecued burgers and hot dogs. The event was held at Rock Spring Retirement Community in Apple Valley on Saturday. Rylee took third.
